Like I Was Saying...
Yes, I'm a little sad we finished the first season of Sandman so quickly. But it's that damn good.
Truth be told, I'm not a big fan of graphic novels, even though I tried to write one once.
My friend Jay recommended I read Gaiman'sGaiman's Sandman. He was adamant about it. So I read the first series and loved it.
What I like about Gaiman is how he plays with myths, legends, and religion.
So when American Gods came out, I read it and again loved it. I need to reread it.
So I was excited when I saw the previews for it. I was ready. And I started it and within ten minutes, shut it off.
I think it was the production quality that got me. I don't know; I guess the Brits shoot TV differently. So the production value didn't blow my socks off. I was pissed because I wanted to like it.
So when Lucy said she wanted to watch Sandman, I was ready to be disappointed. I sat with my laptop on my lap, ready to zone out.
But then, five minutes in, I was hooked. Sandman had some production value behind it. Plus, they had cast the Sandman very well. The actor's name is Tom Sturridge. I've never seen him before, but he fits the part.
So I'm hooked.
And I'm happy for Neil Gaiman. I think he's one of the most underrated authors working today. I believe *Sandman* will make his work familiar to many more people. And Gaiman has always struck me as a good guy that deserves all the success he's earned.
So yeah, I loved the *Sandman* and can't wait till the next season.
